I have planted and it is growing beautifully a Showbiz Floribunda rose. When I bought it, it had some mildew on it so I bought Daconil and sprayed the mildewed leaves. It started to flower and looked great. Now I see it has some white fuzzy spots on the sunny side of some of the buds. Can you tell me what this is and what to do about it?
I am afraid it is also Powdery Mildew. I have 150 rose bushes and I use a STRONG blast of water to control all pests and Mildew. Turn your hose on as hard as you can and wash the bush early in the morning.
Hi Steve, I just started growing roses in January for the first time. The roses are budding now but they are opening with a brown burnt like edges to them. Is this a fungus? And if so how to I get rid of it please?
The burnt edges on your roses is not a fungus, it is caused by a VERY small insect called Thrips. Unfortunately they do their damage when the bud is just forming. To control Thrips the fanatical exhibitor spray just their buds twice a week with an insecticide. Some people will use a systemic insecticide in the soil. I use Worm Castings. I will post a separate post under Insect Control.
